Patrick Orion Vargo, 62, of 18696 New Richmond Rd., Cambridge Springs, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Patrick was born in Columbus, OH on March 24, 1955, a son of the late John D. and Patricia (Ferguson) Vargo.
On September 19, 1977 Patrick married Terry J. Lang; she survives.
Patrick was currently employed by Modern Industries, formerly known as Free-Col Labs. Over the years he had been employed as a Professor of Forensics Science at Keiser University in Orlando, FL, as a Deputy Sheriff in Ohio, and had been self employed in various capacities in the Environmental field. A lover of nature and animals, Patrick developed a passion for the environmental sciences at a very young age and has been involved in the field for more than 50 years. A member of the Mensa Society, Patrick received his Bachelor's and Masters Degrees in Chemistry and Biology and quickly rose to the top of his field, having collaborated on environmental issues with Newt Gingrich and Michael Dukakis, among others. Additionally he was involved with cleaning up waste sites all over the country. He was a leader and published author in his field. Patrick was an excellent marksman and taught others the art of shooting. He had an adventurous spirit and traveled all over the world. In addition to an environmental activist, Patrick will be remembered as a passionate professor, a compassionate soul, but most importantly as a loving husband, father and Pa Pa. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Terry, of 39 years, Patrick is survived by a daughter Angela L. Hustead and her husband David of Ormond Beach, FL. He was a devoted Pa Pa to his granddaughter Oceanna Hustead. He is further survived by a sister Tanya O'Neill and a brother George Vargo, both of Florida.
In addition to his father, Patrick was preceded in death by a brother John Vargo.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.
