Norma L. Keppel

Norma L. Keppel, 75, of 761 Maple St,. Meadville, passed away Monday, May 6th, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.

Norma was born in Meadville, on August 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Earl and Josephine (DiCesare) Deramo, Sr.

Norma married John L. Keppel; he survives.

She was an active member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. For many years she volunteered with the church rummage sale, the fish dinners and carried the offertory gifts for Saturday evening mass.

Norma enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. Following the birth of her second son she became a full time, stay-at-home mom. In her earlier years she was employed by the former Talon Inc. of Meadville, the Meadville Telephone Co. and Westinghouse. She was a 1955 graduate of Meadville High School. She donated her time and talents with Womens Services as well as Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary. Her hobbies included gardening and traveling.

In addition to her husband, John, Norma is survived by four sons Brian D. Keppel and his wife Lisa of Olympia, WA, Kevin R. Keppel of Meadville, Robert J. Keppel and his wife Elizabeth of Simsbury, CT, Scott T. Keppel and his wife Rebecca of Gilbert, AZ, eight grandchildren Steven Keppel, Kyle Keppel, Kevin D. Keppel, Thomas Keppel, Justin Keppel, Julia Keppel, Mikayla Keppel, Jackson Keppel, two sisters Delores Williams and her husband Donald of Yorba Linda, CA, Donna Houska of Winnetka, CA, two brothers Earl Deramo, Jr. of Meadville, Richard D. Deramo and his wife Barbara of Waynesboro, VA, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Mary A. Keppel, a sister-in-law Janet Deramo and a brother-in-law Thomas Houska.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 3-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be conducted at 6:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 11th, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
