Norine W. Courtney

Norine W. Courtney, 86, of 19536 Third St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center.

Norine was born in Buffalo, NY on August 22, 1929, a daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Kech) Wasmer.

On February 3, 1951 Norine married James J. Courtney; he survives.

She was a very active and long-time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Meadville.

Norine was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in raising her family. For many years she had been a member of the Meadville Elks BPO #219 where she made many great friends. She enjoyed traveling to visit her grandchildren and also enjoyed traveling to the New England states, especially Cape Cod. She will be remembered as a helpful and giving person who enjoyed being around others. Norine was loved by all and will be sadly missed.

In addition to her husband James of 64 years, Norine is survived by a son Gary J. Courtney and his wife Anna of Hyde Park, NY, five grandchildren Kristin, Rachel, Sarah, Matthew, Renee and three nieces.

In addition to her parents, Norine was preceded in death by a son Brian C. Courtney and a brother Donald C. Wasmer.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, with Rev. Joel DiAngi officiating.

Norine will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
