Neal S. Rice, Sr.

Neal S. Rice, Sr., 76 of 458 Poplar St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at home, with his family by his side.

Neal was born in Uniontown, on September 13, 1940, a son of the late James and Virginia (Tibbs) Davis.

On July 12, 1986, Neal married Roberta E. Lawson; she survives.

Neal was employed by PPG for 36 years working both in the plant and as a truck driver. He previously had worked for Shoeco, Singer-Heatrix and the Country Club, all of Meadville. Neal had a passion for his two Gold Wings motorcycles, for construction, building and working with his hands, and for walking, as it was not uncommon for him to walk three to four miles each day. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing and bowling.

In addition to his wife Roberta of 30 years, Neal is survived by six children Neal S. Rice, Jr., and his wife Dawn of Pittsburgh, Marla J. Rice and her husband Drake Parker of Meadville, Antoine R. Rice and his partner Denise Jacomet of Milwaukee, WI, Carla M. Trent of Meadville, Ronnie Wade and his wife Theresa of Jacksonville, FL, Triscell Wade and her husband Jake of Meadville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, a sister Barbara Davis of Phoenix, AZ, sisters in law Patricia Butler and her husband William of Seattle, WA, Helen Wheaten and her husband Frank of Phoenix, AZ, a brother in law Clarence Lawson of Tuscan, AZ, a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Neal was preceded in death by a sister Jacqueline Brown.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10-12 on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at St. John's Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 792 N. Main St., Meadville, where a Home Going Service will be held at 12:00 PM, with Bishop Stanley K. Smith, Pastor, officiating.

Neal will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
