Molette "Mo" Taylor, 91, of 17948 Mullen Rd., Meadville, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016, at home.

Mo was born in Florence, SC on May 4, 1924, a son of the late Liston and Nolie (Creel) Taylor.

On December 1, 1945 Mo married Christine "Grace" Tagliaferri; she preceded him in death on June 19, 2009.

He was an active member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and a member of the former Holy Name Society where he served as Treasurer. Additionally, he regularly volunteered his time with numerous church events.

For 18 years, Mo and his wife owned and operated the former Star-Lite Motel located on 322. During this time he was also employed by the former American Viscose, later known as FMC and Avtex Fibers for a period of 40 years. A WW II veteran, Mo entered the US Army on November 18, 1941 and served his country until his honorable discharge on September 20, 1945. He was a member of the 5th Army and of the 52nd Amphibious Defense Battalion, spending three years of his service time in Europe. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with seven Bronze Service Stars and one Bronze Service Arrowhead. Mo attended schools in South Carolina. He was a member of the Elks Club, the Meadville Eagles Club, the Italian Civic Club (ICC), the Meadville Sertoma Club, Knights of Columbus Council #388, Vernon Central Fire Dept., VFW Post #3374, VFW Post #2006 and Dr. Winslow Assembly #1927.

Mo is survived by three sisters Geneva Ashby and her husband Dennis, Addie Mae Turner both of Florence, SC, Maude Hughes and her husband Franklin of Hemingway, SC, his dear friend Eli Tokarcik of Meadville, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and his wife Grace of 63 years, Mo was preceded in death by three brothers Albert Taylor, Gilbert Taylor, Pervis Taylor, four sisters Mattie Lee Philips, Myrtle Lee Poston, Aline Melvin and Mary "Louise" Zuzolo.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 25, from 2-6 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be held at 3:30.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor, officiating.

Following Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, Mo will be laid to rest next to his wife, Grace, in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
