Mcgill Eleanor C.

Eleanor Clancy McGill, 93, of 1021 Royal Gardens, Lake Mary, FL, formerly of Meadville, passed away June 30, 2016, at Oakmonte Memory Care, Lake Mary, FL.

Eleanor was born in Meadville, PA on May 23, 1923, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Gehringer) Clancy.

On June 11, 1946 Eleanor married Benjamin T. McGill; he survives.

Over the years she had been a member of Holy Family Parish in Ashland, KY and of St. Anthony Parish in Tionesta where she served on the Parish Council. While living in Meadville, she was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Eleanor was a former Elementary School teacher, teaching both in Sharon and Pittsburgh. She attended the former St. Brigid School for eight years, graduated from Meadville High School, where she enjoyed playing field hockey and furthered her education by graduating from Slippery Rock Teachers College with a BA in Elementary Education. Eleanor enjoyed playing Bridge, working with acrylic paints especially painting outdoor landscape scenes, golfing, swimming and traveling, especially to Europe. She will be remembered for being the life of the party, for her strong Irish Heritage and for her warm, loving and caring personality.

In addition to her husband, Benjamin, of 70 years, Eleanor is survived by four children Patrick E. McGill and his wife Evelyn of Lexington, KY, John W. McGill and his wife Denise of Ashland, KY, Mary M. Lugar and her husband Dale of Columbus, OH, Benjamin T. McGill, Jr. and his wife Monica of Sanford, FL, seven grandchildren Christopher McGill, Julia McGill, William McGill, Clare Smyrell, Andrew Lugar, Matthew Lugar, Keira McGill, four great grandchildren, Alexander McGill, Yura McGill, Eric McGill, Madelyne Lugar, a sister in law Nancy McGill of Tionesta, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sarah E. McGill, a sister Helen Jannot and her husband Bruce Jannot, and a brother in law Robert McGill.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 10-11 AM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc, 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Friday at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch Street, Meadville, with Fr. Tom Trocchio, Parochial Vicar officiating.

Eleanor will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
