Maxene Elizabeth Emig, 91, of Cochranton Road, Meadville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2016.

She was born June 28, 1924 in Petroleum Center, the daughter of Warren and Laura (Amsler) Shreffler.

She married Harold Clare Emig on September 21, 1944.

Maxene was a 1942 graduate of Pleasantville High School. She was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. William Dietz for many years. Maxene, who was affectionately known as “Mickie” by family and friends, and her husband Harold were members of the Kon Yacht Kickers Square Dance Club for over 30 years. They achieved the highest levels of western square dancing and attended numerous square dance conventions in the United States and Canada. Maxene was an excellent homemaker, seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and bicycling. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother who loved nothing more than spending time with her family.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Harold Clare, of 71 years, include three daughters, Sherry Fleischer and her husband Jon of Meadville, Maxene Davis, widow of Dale Davis of Cambridge Springs and Jeanne Straw and her husband Robert of Meadville; six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kari) Ferguson, Jason (Latisha) Craft, Jessica (Paul) Underwood, Tara (Joseph) Roche, Rachel (Timothy) Finale and Jon (Kate) Fleischer Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Breanna Ferguson, Marlea Ferguson, Michael Finale, John Finale, Luke Finale, Wyatt Fleischer and Wesley Fleischer; a sister, Joan Miller of Kingman, Arizona; as well as several other step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a brother, Merle Shreffler; and a sister, Marion Shreffler.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Maxene will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
