Matilda Ann Harnett, 95, of 31 North Park Ave, formerly of 218 Chestnut St., both of Meadville, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

Matilda was born in Bakerton on April 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Angelo and Amelia Rose.

She was of the Roman Catholic faith.

For several years Matilda was employed by Crawford Central School District as a crossing guard. She had previously been employed in the Housekeeping Dept. of the former Spencer Hospital for many years. She attended public schools in Bakerton. A talented musician, Matilda, along with her sisters, were members of the Rose Orchestra where she played the drums and tambourine. She also loved dancing.

Matilda is survived by three children Dennis Harnett and his wife Colleen of Boonsboro, MD, Darlene Harnett of Meadville, Richard Harnett of Corrigan, TX, six grandchildren Hayley Gurtler and her husband Zsolt of Haegerstown, MD, Chelsea Harnett of Alexandria, VA, Brad Smith of Youngstown, OH, Leslie Smith of Cleveland Heights, OH, Tiffany and Rachel Harnett of Conroe, TX, one great granddaughter Madalyn Smith of Youngstown, OH, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Matilda was preceded in death by five sisters Josephine Fresh, Ann Stoltz, Mary Lees, Elizabeth Dongilia and Elsie Gwyn.

At Matildas request, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Darlene Harnett, 737 Park Ave. Meadville, PA 16335.
