Mary Theresa Perdos

Mary Theresa Perdos, 89, of Meadville, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the home of her daughter, Susan.

Theresa was born in Waynesburg on November 10, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Bruno) Matz.

On July 2, 1960 Theresa married Theodore "Ted" Perdos; he preceded her in death on November 20, 1991.

She was an active member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, its Altar Rosary Society and she volunteered her time with the church rummage sale and fish dinners for many years.

In 2002 Theresa retired from Crawford Central School District where she had been employed for 28 years as the school secretary of Second District Elementary and the former North End School. Following her retirement she worked part time at the former YWCA, which is where she had worked prior to becoming a school secretary. She had previously also been employed by Dr. C. Leonard O'Connell, James Hennen Jewelry Store and the former Ullom Bailey Drug Store, all of Waynesburg. Theresa attended Waynesburg College following her 1949 graduation from Margaret Belle Miller High School and she remembered attending a four room school house. In 1962 Theresa and her family moved from Waynesburg and made Meadville their home. Here, she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her family. Theresa had been a member of the Professional Business Women (PBW) and served as treasurer. She gladly volunteered at the Stone Church's Soup Kitchen and the former East End School where her grandsons attended elementary school. She also enjoyed the Ballet, the Symphony, flowers and botanical gardens, doing needle work, attending plays and concerts at the Academy Theater, attending family events and especially following the activities of her grandchildren.

Theresa is survived by two daughters Susan M. Perdos of Canfield, OH, Patricia Perdos Bowman (James) of Meadville, a son Vincent Perdos (Kim) of Ashburn, VA, five grandchildren Marina Hanes (partner Kevin Bouslough), Jillian Perdos, Michael Perdos, Ethan Bowman, Kyle Bowman, a sister Rosalie Phillips (William) of Waynesburg, a sister-in-law Iila Matz of California, and numerus nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband Ted of 31 years, Theresa was preceded in death by a brother Vincent Matz, a sister Angela Nucci and a son in law Robert Mort, Jr.
