Mary 'Libby' E. Zirkle

Mary 'Libby' E. Zirkle, 90, of 17446 State Hwy. 98, Meadville, passed away Thursday, March 17th, 2011, at Meadville Medical Center.
Mary was born in Lewistown on February 11, 1921, a daughter of the late Henry A. and Marie F. (Kauffman) Dougherty.
On February 8, 1940 Libby married Dorman K. Zirkle; he preceded her in death on February 28, 2011.
A dedicated homemaker, Libby enjoyed raising her children. For 25 years she owned Marys Chatterbox, a yarn shop which was run out of her home, where she and many women gathered to knit by hand as well as by machine. For more than 50 years she and her husband, Dorman, operated a produce stand in Littles Corners. Libby enjoyed making porcelain dolls, having made close to 100. She took great pride in their every detail and the fact that no two were the same. These were special gifts she gave to her family and friends. Libby was also know for her excellent cooking, especailly her delicious chili during hunting season.
Libby is survived by five children Kenneth Zirkle and his wife Christine of Cambridge Springs, Richard Zirkle and his wife Patricia of Saegertown, Marvin Zirkle and his wife Joyce of Brocton, NY, Doris Henderson and her husband Scott of West Mifflin, Charles Zirkle and his wife Christine of Albion, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her dog Gretchen, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Dorman of 71 years, Libby was preceded in death by a sister Irma Caldwell and a brother Russell Dougherty.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, March 19, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Robert Fuller, Pastor of Little Corners United Methodist Church, Saegertown, officiating.
Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hayfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept., Route 198, Saegertown, PA 16433.
