Mary E. Smock

Mrs. Mary E. Smock, 89, of 6657 Perry Hwy., Meadville, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Mary was born in Rushford, NY, on June 8, 1927, daughter of the late Bert and Edna (Emery) Parker.

On July 24, 1965 Mary married Ralph A. Smock; he preceded her in death on April 4, 2010.

Mary retired from the former Montgomery Ward Store in 1987 after 20 years of service where she worked in the Credit and Cash Department Office. She graduated from Shingle House High School in 1944. Mary was a member of the Y.W.C.A. and the Y.M.C.A. where she enjoyed swimming. She also enjoyed doing needle work and playing cards.

She is survived by a son Karl VanScoter of Meadville, a step-daughter Delores Guthrie and her husband Ron of Sandy Lake, a granddaughter Kelly VanScoter, three step grandsons Robert, William and David Howard, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ralph, of 44 years.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, April 15, 2017, from 2-4 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville where Funeral Services will be held at 4 PM with Pastor Gregg Giles of St. John's Community Church officiating.

Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ralph, in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marquette Hospice House c/o Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.

The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff of Marquette Hospice House for the outstanding care they provided in Mary's last days.
