Mary "Beth" Elizabeth Weidner

Mary (Beth) Elizabeth Weidner, 72, of Forest Hills, Meadville, PA, passed away on January 1, 2018 at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

She was born in Meadville, at the former Spencer Hospital on May 4, 1945, to the late Robert and Martha Hollern Wood.

She is survived by her husband,  Gerald (Jerry) Weidner whom she married  on Oct. 9, 1971.

She was a life long member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

After attending St. Brigid Elementary School, she transferred to Meadville Junior and then to Meadville Senior High to graduate in 1963.  Mary Beth continued her education at Edinboro College receiving her B.A. with honors in 1967 and her M.Ed in 1970.  She began her professional career at North Allegheny High School, Pittsburgh, teaching one year before returning to Meadville Senior High to teach for 24 years before retiring in 2003.   She met and married her husband while both were teaching at Meadville High.  She left teaching for 12 years to be a mother to her two daughters.

Her interests include her love of reading and visiting family homes of great writers including Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Bronte sisters, Wordsworth,  Beatrix Potter, and others.  These visits made her better understand the writers and improve her teaching.  She also enjoyed travel including several trips to Europe and across the United States. In later years her lady friends at Forest Hills, the Condo Chicks, gave her enjoyment, as did wintering at Aladdin Villas in southern Texas for the last twelve years. Her greatest love was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She also enjoyed her extended family especially the Hollern clan.

Besides her husband, Mary Beth is survived by two daughters Emily Armour with husband Luke and their two daughters, Megan and Ellen of Wooster, OH, and daughter Molly Fuller with husband Jonathan and their two sons, Alex and Elliot of Winston-Salem, NC; by two sisters, Rebecca (Don) Hart of Fairview, PA, and Eileen (Bob) Bovard of Warren, PA., and one brother, John (Vicki) Wood also of Fairview, PA.  She is also survived by nephews David Hart, Patrick (Melissa) Hart, Brendan (Pooja) Bovard, and Nathan (Katie) Bovard, and one niece Rachel (Dan) Morin with their extended families.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:30 PM.
