Mrs. Margaret M. Thayer, 95, of 9108 State Hwy. 198, Conneautville, formerly of Park Avenue Ext., Meadville, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville.
Margaret was born in Conneautville on December 17, 1914, the daughter of the late Frank M. and Elsie F. (Smith) McMillen.
On February 2, 1935 she married Kenneth L. Thayer; he preceded her in death on March 7, 1991.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Meadville.
In 1977 Margaret retired from the former Talon Plant after 40 years of service. She was a 1933 graduate of Conneaut Valley High School. Her hobbies including traveling with her husband, working in her garden and tending to her flowers. Margaret loved spending time with her family where she found great enjoyment being with her daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and their families.
Margaret is survived by five grandchildren Robert H. Johnston, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Meadville, Becky Hill and her husband of Charles of Berea, OH, Steven M. Johnston and his wife Linda of Lexington, NC, David M. Johnston and his wife Jayme of Lynchburg, VA, Eric C. Johnston and his wife Tammy of Saegertown, ten great grandchildren, Dawn Johnston, Crystal Baker, Robert H. Johnston, II, Charles Alexander Hill, Erin Hill, Catrina Dixon, Sheena Johnston, Brittany Johnston, Derrick Johnston, Ryan Johnston, one great great granddaugher, one great great grandson, several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, Kenneth, of 56 years, she was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Thayer, a daughter Joann L. Johnston, a great grandson Howard E. Johnston, two brothers Donald & Dale McMillen.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
