Margaret L. Handy

Mrs. Margaret L. Handy, 95, of 11315 Hunters Ridge Blvd., Apt. 5, Meadville, formerly of 373 Grant St., Saegertown, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at AristaCare at Park Avenue, Meadville.

Margaret was born in Summit Twp., on September 20, 1922, the daughter of the late Henry and Harriet (Jenkins) McGuire.

On September 4, 1948 Margaret married Stewart Handy; he preceded her in death on June 20, 1998.

In 1985 Margaret retired from the PA Dept of Public Assistance. She previously had been employed by the former Talon, Inc., the former Meadville City Hospital and the Health Department, all of Meadville. A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Saegertown United Methodist Church, her hobbies included reading and working in her flower garden.

Margaret is survived by a daughter Beth Nazelrod (Vincent) of Meadville, a son Stewart "Bill" Handy (Kimberly) of Liverpool, NY, five grandchildren Jana Ringley (Lloyd), Christopher Nazelrod (Michelle), Allan Handy, Ryan Handy (Molly), Chessie Gilbert (Steven), ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Stewart of 49 years and her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by an infant daughter Ruth Ann, a great granddaughter Jessica Marie, two sisters Ruth Say, Florence Pamley, four brothers Clarence, Melvin, Lewis and Allen McGuire.

Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 11-1 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Temple Jarrell of New Beginnings Church of God officiating.

Margaret will be laid to rest with her husband, Stewart, in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Blind Association, 312 Chestnut St., Suite 103 or Active Aging, 1034 Park Ave., both in Meadville, PA 16335.
