Lillie M. Moody, 81, of 1101 S. Cottage St., Meadville, passed away Monday, October 7th, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.

Lillie was born in Como, MS on February 28, 1932, a daughter of the late Jeff and Jessie Edwards. Known to Lillie as her second mother, was her late grandmother, Minnie Jones Hamilton, who not only raised her as a child, but also as a child of the Lord.

She had been married to R.B. Moody who preceded her in death.

Church life was very important to Lillie. Having been brought up in Cistern Hill A.M.E. Church, Como, MS, she dedicated her life to the Lord under the leadership of Rev. Robert Person at a very young age. There she served as Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and Church Secretary. After moving to Muncie, IN, where she was blessed with three children born to the marriage of R.B. Moody, Lillie continued to serve her Lord under the pastorship of Elder Bishop Cody of Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ. She was known by all there as 'Mother of the Church'. When Lillie moved to Meadville to live with her son and daughter-in-law, she remained close to her God as a member of Beacon Liberty Street Temple Church of God in Christ where she served as Church Mother. Her hobbies including following baseball on television and making ceramics which she enjoyed giving to her family and friends, but above all she enjoyed reading the word of God.

Lillie is survived by two sons Mack Moody and his wife Donna of Meadville with whom she lived, Johnie B. Moody and his wife Loretta of Anderson, IN, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, two sisters Lucille Burner of Como, MS, Minnie Mickens and her husband Vincent of Memphis, TN, two brothers Richard Crump and his wife Pearline of Memphis, TN, Jessie J. Crump and his wife Shirley of Peoria, IL, a nephew Rev. W. C. Edwards of Muncie, IN, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lillie was preceded in death by a son Willie Moody, a sister Olivet Fitzgerald, two brothers Columbus Crump and J.C. Edwards.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 11-1 at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville, where a Homecoming Service will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Henry Thrower of Beacon Liberty St. Temple Church of God in Christ, officiating.

Interment will take place in Como, MS.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
