Lenee Mari (Longo) Dixon, 50, of 17492 Old Mill Rd. Saegertown, left this world on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, to enter the Kingdom of God, greeted by her father, Charles, and to meet the Blessed Virgin Mary, who she prayed to every day. She passed away at Cleveland Clinic-Hillcrest Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She went peacefully and left behind so many sad people but her spirit will be instilled in all of us.
Lenee was born in Meadville, on March 26, 1966, a daughter of Betty (Costa) Longo and the late Charles "Chuc" Longo.
On May 9, 2001 Lenee married Jack Dixon; he survives.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
In 1995 Lenee began her employment at SCI, Cambridge Springs, as a clerk typist and had worked her way to becoming a Corrections Counselor, a career path that she loved and in which she excelled, as in all things. She was admired by all and served as an inspiration to both coworkers as well as inmates. She was a steadfast mentor. In 2012 she became the recipient of the Thomas A. Fulcomer Award, a statewide award, recognizing her for her exemplary level of loyalty, dedication, integrity, compassion and motivation. She was known to all for going above and beyond her routine duties while always maintaining a positive attitude. A 1984 graduate of Meadville High School, Lenee was a member of the Softball and Basketball Teams. She went on to further her education by graduating from Edinboro University in 1992 with degrees in Math as well as Psychology. She had served an internship with the Department of Environmental Protection. Lenee was sports minded and filled with energy. She loved the outdoors, camping, skiing, kayaking, golfing and running, having completed more than twenty marathons, inspiring so many along the way. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Throughout Lenee's illness and treatments she not only upheld an upbeat mindset but also reached out to others undergoing chemotherapy to encourage and uplift their spirits. She maintained eternal optimism in every aspect of her life. Over the years, she touched the hearts of many co-patients, doctors and nurses at the Cleveland Clinic as her smile and positive attitude were contagious. She was loved by all that met her. Her nature was so unselfish as she always wanted to help others even as she fought her own battle. She never complained and had such a strong mind that nothing was going to stop her so she became known as "LENEE STRONG". She "fought like a girl; just try to keep up." Lenee exemplified the true meaning of being a Christian because she never said a bad word or had a bad thought about anyone. Her faith was so strong and her family meant so much to her. Her friends were many and the outpouring of love and support she received the last seven months was overwhelming. Lenee LIVED the true meaning of LOVE. She would not want to leave heavy hearts behind, but instead encourage love to one another and to continue to pray. God is so lucky to receive this beautiful angel. There will never be another Lenee Dixon; she was our gift from God.
In addition to her husband, Jack, of 15 years, Lenee is survived by a son Shea Charles Dixon, a daughter Talia Elizabeth Dixon, both at home, two step sons Shaun Patrick Dixon and his wife Leah of Hilton, NY, John "Jack" Stephen Dixon of Greece, NY, a step granddaughter Avamarie Dixon, her mother Betty Longo of Meadville, two brothers Chuc Longo and his wife Tabitha, Jason Longo and his wife Jamie of both of Meadville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 15, 2017, from 2-7 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 16, with Fr. Marc Solomon, Family friend and former Pastor of St. Mary of Grace, officiating.
