Kenneth "Kenny" Kay Culbertson

Kenneth "Kenny" Kay Culbertson, 76, of Saegertown, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022 at St. Vincent Health System, Erie, following a period of failing health.

He was born May 5, 1945, in Meadville, a son of the late Earl and Faye (Heffern) Culbertson.

He married Patricia Dearbeck at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on July 29, 1967; she survives.

Kenny was raised on a dairy farm in Edinboro. He was active in FFA, earning Grand Champion in August, 1958. He was a 1964 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School. On July 28, 1964 Kenny entered the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam War until his discharge on June 8, 1966. He served two additional years in the Army Reserves. Following his honorable discharge, Kenny began an apprenticeship with the Operating Engineers Local 66, becoming a heavy equipment operator. Among his work accomplishments were the replacement of the bridges in Bradford and working two years on the Pittsburgh International Airport, finishing off his career working at Erie Sand and Gravel. While working, Kenny owned and operated his own business, K & J Builders, with his friend Jim Stoll. He was affiliated with Twelve Apostles Luthern Church. Kenny was a member of Venango VFW Post #169, Saegertown American Legion Post # 205, The Sons of Lake Erie, The Springs Rod and Gun Club, and The Sons of the American Legion, where he served as their historian. On Veteran's Day, 2021, Kenny was presented with a quilt of Valor for his service in Vietnam. An avid outdoors man, Kenny loved hunting and fishing and made many great memories during those times. He especially enjoyed times with his family and friends on his fishing boat, "The Patty-Poo". Time with family and friends was very important to him, especially time spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Patty, of 54 years, Kenny is survived by children Michael Culbertson of KY, Nick Culbertson of Edinboro, Stephanie Culbertson-Burger of Saegertown; four grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jolissa, Jonny, Ben; five step grandchildren including Glenn; a brother James Culbertson (Wendy-Jo) of ME; a sister Wilma Webster (Robert) of Edinboro; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by a sister Irene Rauber; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited call from 1-3 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11 AM with Kenny's brother, Pastor James Culbertson, officiating.

Kenny will be laid to rest in Venango Cemetery with Full Military Honors by Erie Crawford Burial Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made in Kenny's memory to Sons of Lake Erie, PO Box 3605, Erie, PA 16508 or Soldiers and Sailors Home Benevolent Fund, 560 E. 3rd St., Erie, PA 16507.
