Kaerlene "Kay" A. Heath, 74, of 750 Seminole Road, Meadville, formerly of Market St., Meadville and of Linesville, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Park Ave. Rehab & Nursing Center, Meadville.

Kay was born in Greenville, on June 23, 1941, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Mona Pauline (Armour) Hanley.

Over the years she had been affiliated with St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church as well as St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

Kay was an active member of the Crawford County community. While living in Linesville she was an EMT and assisted in the training of EMTs. After moving to the Meadville area she became the first tenant representative to the Meadville Housing Authority, having been appointed in 1995. An active member of the Democratic Party, she served on the Executive Board for many years and was elected Democratic Woman of the Year in 1995. For five years she was the Operations Manager for the Democratic Headquarters and worked on many election campaigns. She was also a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and was involved with the Soup Kitchen as well as the Food Share Program. She was a fabulous cook.

Kay is survived by a son Vernon Lee McDonald of Deerlodge, MT, a daughter Mari Lynn Chapman of Meadville, three grandchildren Vonnie McDonald, Stephen McDonald, Joshua Hanley, an adopted sister Mae Hawthorne, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her good friend Deni DeBaise.

She was preceded in death by her adopted parents Oscar and Lela Williams as well as her parents.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, or Meadville Public Library, 848 N. Main Street, both in Meadville, PA 16335.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
