Josephine "Josie" M. Morris

Josephine "Josie" M. Morris, formerly of Walnut St., Meadville, passed away on her 93rd birthday, surrounded by her family.

Josie was born in Meadville on January 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Mary (Galle) Tartaglione.

On December 4, 1948 she married Roy "John" Morris; he predeceased her August 15, 1997.

She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and its Altar Rosary Society.

In her earlier years, Josephine was employed by the former Talon, for 15 years. She graduated from Meadville High School. She was a former member of the Eagles, ICC, and VFW #2006 Auxiliaries. A homemaker all her life, Josephine was an excellent cook. She enjoyed playing BINGO and going to casinos but her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.

Josie is survived by two daughters Joni Tautin (Rick), Rhona Newell (Joe), both of Meadville; ten grandchildren Jamie Munson (Danny), Michael Tautin (Betsy), Andrea Wellmon (Dusty), Angela Annibale (Phil), Jason Morris (Amber), Ricky Tautin (Lisa), Danielle DuPont, Jennifer Newell (Tom), Casey Morris, Bailey Morris; eleven great grandchildren; three sisters Anne Daddio of FL, Betsy Boccio, Toni Lee Kruszewski (Ken) both of Erie, a brother James Tartaglione (Debbie) of Meadville, a son in law Angelo Pero; two daughters in law Eleonora Morris, Tiffany Morris, all of Meadville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 48 years, Josephine was preceded in death by three children Brenda Pero, James Morris, John Morris; a grandson Douglas Newell; five sisters Virginia Kruszewski, Philomena Roberts, Carmella Luchansky, Ethel Boccio, and Cathryn Morris.

Visitation is from 6:30-8:30 PM on Thursday, January 26, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, and also on Friday from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 1 PM at The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Joe Petrone Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Josie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Roy, in St. Brigid Cemetery.
