Josephine 'Jo' Ann Barco, 92, of 557 Chestnut Street, Apt. 33 C, Meadville, passed away Saturday, February 9th, 2013 at home.
The youngest of seven children, Jo was born in Midland on December 20, 1920, a daughter of the late James P. and Leonarda (Battaglia) Barco.
Over the years Jo had been employed at the Crawford County Courthouse, the former Meadville Master Antenna and at the former family business, J.P. Barco Beer Distributors where she worked with her brothers George, Pat and Pip. Her hobbies included watching sports on TV, reading, working crossword puzzles and dining out. Jo often said retirement spent in Holiday, FL, with her sister, Mary, was the most favorite time of her life. She loved the sunshine and being able to wear shorts all year long. The most important thing in Jos life was her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews and all those who knew and loved her.
Jo is survived by six nieces and nephews Lenore 'Lee' Jamison of Meadville, Patricia Barco of Queens, NY, James L. Barco, Robert Gooden both of Meadville, H. James Sigsbee of Miami, FL, Cornelia Ingalls of Erie, many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by two sisters Frances Sigsbee, Mary J. Barco, four brothers George W. Barco, Patrick J. Barco, Joseph G. Barco and Peter Barco who died as a young child, a niece Anita Zuccaro and a nephew Robert J. Sigsbee.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 16, 2013, from 1:30-2:30 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 PM with Fr. Marc Solomon, Pastor of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205-4620 or a charity of the donors choice.
