Joseph A. Rossi

Joseph A. Rossi, 65, of Meadville, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at home surrounded by his wife and children.

Joseph was born in Meadville, on February 19, 1954, a son of the late George P. and Anna Marie (DiGregorio) Rossi.

On July 22, 1978 Joseph married Laurie L. Wiant; she survives.

A 1972 graduate of Meadville High School, Joseph had attended the former St. Agatha Catholic School. For many years he was employed as a meat cutter by the former Riverside Market in Meadville. He also did concrete work with his father, George. Joseph enjoyed camping and hunting, especially with his son and grandson.   In his younger years he also enjoyed fishing with his children. His Italian heritage was important to him as was carrying on family traditions of cooking Italian foods, making sausage, wine, Easter bread, and smoking meat and cheese. He looked forward to the annual Rossi family reunion each summer. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was his greatest joy in life. Joseph will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Laurie, of 40 years, Joseph is survived by a son Adam J. Rossi (Jennifer) of Erie, a daughter Andrea L. Sandberg (David) of Souderton, five grandchildren Logan Joseph Rossi, Mackenzie Lynn Rossi, Annalynn Margaret Sandberg, Samantha Rose Sandberg, Maeve Elizabeth Sandberg, a sister Angela Mook (Rocco) of Meadville, a brother Patrick Rossi (Linda) of Erie, a special uncle Joseph DiGregorio of Pahrump, NV, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at a future date.
