John "Jack" Frank Jones

John "Jack" Frank Jones, 90, of 115 Lyons St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014, at home.

Jack was born in Meadville, on January 3, 1924, a son of the late Charles and Blanche (Lambert) Jones.

On May 2, 1948 Jack married Ada M. Haines; she preceded him in death on November 1, 1966. He subsequently married Patricia DeDominic Bortner in 1972 who preceded him in death in 1979.

Jack was a member of Bethany United Methodist, Meadville.

After 37 years of service, Jack retired just before the age of 65, from US Bronze Foundry, formerly known as Abex Corp. and American Brakeshoe. A veteran of World War II, Jack entered the US Army Air Corps on March 8, 1943 and served his country honorably until his discharge on March 11, 1946. He was a mechanic for the B-29 Bomber airplane and had attained the rank of Corporal. Jack was the recipient of the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the WW II Victory Medal. Jack attended the former St. Brigid Catholic School and Meadville High School. Jack was a former member of Keystone Hose Volunteer Fire Department and of the Meadville Eagles Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking and making repairs to just about anything. He also enjoyed driving his truck through the Crawford County area.

Jack is survived by two sons John "Jack" F. Jones II and his companion Sherrie Kregel of Meadville, Thomas E. Jones and his wife Karen of Hernando Beach, FL, two grandchildren Taylor Raszman of Meadville, Zachery Myers of Springhill, FL and a brother James Jones of Meadville. He is further survived by Toni Gillingham who was like a daughter to him, many nieces and nephews and his cat, Sadie.

In addition to his parents and wives, Jack was preceded in death by two brothers Clarence Jones, Charles Jones, a sister Arlene Willey and his long time friend and companion of more than 20 years, Delores M. Easton.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 11-1 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jeff Bobin of Bethany United Methodist Church, officiating.

Jack will be laid to rest next to his wife, Ada, in Chapmanville Cemetery, Troy Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 140 Wadsworth Ave, Meadville, PA 16335.
