John A. Yanacek

John A. Yanacek, 84, of Meadville, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.

John was born in Meadville, on April 11, 1937, a son of the late John and Frances R. (Beck) Yanacek.

He was a 1956 graduate of Meadville High School and had attended the University of Pittsburgh. Over the years John was employed as an auto mechanic, carpenter, and all-around tradesman, having co-owned Meadville Remodeling. He worked the last few years, as he began, at Lew Davies in Meadville, working on cars. John enjoyed steam engines, collectables, vintage cars, hunting and fishing. He loved flying. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and Civil Air Patrol. He was also a member of the “Dirty Dozen” local hot rod club.

He is survived by two sons, Steve Yanacek (partner Krista Muddiman) of Meadville, John Yanacek (Laurie) of Milford, DE; two daughters, Leslie Yanacek of Youngstown, OH, Linda Yanacek (partner Tammy) of Fairmont, WV; his companion Cindy Perry of Meadville; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Betty Madison, Pat Smith, and Sue Webb.

Family and friends are invited to call from 6-7 PM on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Brian Hasenkopf of St. Paul's Reformed Church officiating.

John will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.
