James Gill Wenzel, Sr.

James Gill Wenzel, Sr., 85, of 18305 State Hwy. 86, Saegertown, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at his farm.

Jim was born in Meadville, on November 16, 1929, a son of the late Frederick Earl and Elsie (Gill) Wenzel.

On February 28, 1950 Jim married Ruth Bradshaw; she preceded him in death on April 29, 2010.

Jim worked as a self-employed dairy farmer since 1949. Until recent months, he still could be found working in the fields. He was past president of N.F.O. (National Farmers Organization), enjoyed hunting and was and avid reader, especially about history.

Jim is survived by five children, Fred Wenzel of Cambridge Springs, Sylvia Wenzel of Meadville, Edward Wenzel and his wife Cheryl of Florida Keys, FL, Kim Martin and her husband Dave of Saegertown, James G. Wenzel II and his wife Lisa of Saegertown, eight grandchildren Jamie Bufalino and her husband Russ, Kristie Wenzel, Brian Wenzel, Brad Wenzel, Nolan Acker, Hayley Acker, Jacob Wenzel and Ashley Wenzel, two great grandchildren R.J. and Luca Bufalino, three sisters Dorothy Wenzel, Marge Wenzel, Janice Wenzel all of Meadville, a half-brother David Swaney of CA, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Ruth of 60 years, James was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Scowden.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of family.

Jim will be laid to rest in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
