Ida Sheriff

Ida C. Sheriff, 86, of Saegertown, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Rolling Fields Eldercare Community, Conneautville.

Ida was born at home in Woodcock Township., on November 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Homer and Mabel (Banley) Swift.

On December 8, 1953 Ida married her high school sweetheart Herman Sheriff, meeting him at the age of 12; he preceded her in death on August 16, 2010.

Ida was an active and faithful member of Saegertown United Methodist Church where she worked as church secretary for 19 years.

Ida retired from the Crawford County Court House where she had been employed for 22 years, the last 14 as chief deputy assessor. She previously had been employed by the former American Viscose Corp. in the payroll department and for the former Crawford County Home, now known as the Crawford County Care Center. Ida was a charter member of the Saegertown Historical Society and was involved with several quilting groups. Her quilting skills allowed her to make miniature as well as large quilts. She was a talented Master Seamstress who could sew anything from casual clothing to formal wear, including gowns and tuxedos. Ida took pride in making clothes for her entire family and many members of the Saegertown Community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting the Saegertown Library. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Ida is survived by three children Tina Elton (Clifford) of Pittsburgh, Susan Fuller (William) of Meadville, Richard Sheriff (Laurie) of Warren, four grandchildren Heather Fuller (Beth), Hannah Hufnagel (Jordan), Bradley Fuller (Jennie), Quincy Nolan, two great grandchildren Annabelle, Brynen, and seventeen foreign exchange students.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Herman, of 56 years, Ida was preceded in death by a sister.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 14th at Saegertown United Methodist Church 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, with Pastor Jeff Little officiating.

Ida will be laid to rest with her husband Herman in Saegertown Cemetery.
