Hattie Corene Phillips

Mrs. Corene Phillips was born in Lillington, North Carolina, December 22, 1924, to the Late Hallie Canaday and Otis Burdett.

She was called to her Eternal rest on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Meadville Medical Center, Pa.

In 1940 she married Arthur Phillips who preceded her in death on June 25, 2001. Together they had one son, James Phillips.

She was an amazing mother and an outstanding grandmother and woman that carried herself with class and elegant. Mrs. Corene became a member of Lillington Grove FWB Church at an early age. In her later years she became director of Choir and she also introduce the church to hanging of the greenery, where the inside of the church is decorated. She also participated and organized events at the church until her health began to decline. She loved the church and all the members that went there. She Departed from this world and was carried into the next by the angels into Abraham’s Bosom, Luke 16:22, where she will be united with her family and friends that did good upon this earth and live her days out with glory and happiness until the day of judgement, Hebrews 9:27.

Mrs. Corene leaves to cherish her memories, two Grandchildren, James Ellis Phillips of Columbus Ohio, Rosenne Phillips, of Killeen, Texas. 7 great grandchildren, Jason Hudson of Columbus Ohio, Nyree Phillips of Meadville Pa, Karrail Phillips of Meadville Pa, Porscha Mcarthur of Killeen Texas, Sheenita Mcarthur of Killeen Texas, India Phillips of Killeen Texas, Arianna Kleppinger, State of Indian. She also had a host of great great grandchildren and one great, great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Corene was preceded in death by her son, James Phillips, and three siblings Willie Strickland, Jessie Mae Strickland and Gertha Strickland.

Local arrangements are under the direction of STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST. MEADVILLE.
