Guido "Guy" J. Berasi

Guido J. (Guy) Berasi, 97, of Meadville, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Meadville Medical Center, after a short illness.


Born in Cardiff, PA in 1925, a son of the late Louis and Delores Bellini Berasi, Guido was a veteran of WWII serving as an Army Medic in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.  In 1951 he married Catherine (Cass) Devlin at St. Mary’s Parish in Lawrenceville.  They met while both were employed at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Butler.

A graduate of the Bennett’s Valley School System in Weedville, PA and the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health Administrative programs, he was employed by Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital, now the Penn Highlands Elk Hospital, in St. Mary’s, PA for more than 38 years. He retired as Chief Executive Officer of Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in 1989. He was a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Administrators, a licensed nursing home administrator and a Pennsylvania licensed realtor.  After retirement, he and his wife moved to Meadville to be near family.  In his spare time he enjoyed model railroading, golfing, hunting, bowling and watching Steelers and Penn State football.


Guido is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Debbie) Berasi of Meadville and Catherine Roth and her husband Robert, of Meadville, as well as a son, Thomas Berasi and his partner Martha Speer, of Fairlawn, OH.  He is also survived by a granddaughter, Michelle (Shelly) Spatafore and her husband Thomas of Simpsonville, SC and two adoring great grandsons (to whom he was lovingly known as Papa Too), Thomas Anthony Jr. and Joseph Guido Spatafore.


He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and five brothers.


Guido was a member of the Epiphany of the Lord Parish.


The family thanks Dr. Paul Oyler for his many years of wonderful care as well as the home health staff of Wesbury United Methodist Community and the staff of Meadville Medical Center’s Transitional Care Unit.


Private services will be held at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, with Fr. Joe Petrone, Parochial Vicar, officiating .


Guido will be laid to rest with his wife in St. Joseph Cemetery, Force, PA.
