Gladys L. Johnson

Gladys L. Johnson, 88, formerly of Meadville, passed away October 18, 2018 at Crawford County Care Center.

Gladys was born in Meadville, on May 10, 1930, daughter of the late Getdins "GT" and Ida Mae (Williams) Singleton.

Gladys married Wilson "Hoot" Johnson, Jr.; he predeceased her in 1979.

She was a faithful member of St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church where she served as usher, sang in the choir, and was responsible for church announcements.

Gladys worked at the former Talon, Inc. of Meadville for many years. She was a graduate of Meadville High School. Gladys enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Her church and her family were always the most important things in her life. She will be missed.

Gladys is survived by two children Sheri Singleton of Rochester, NY, Ronnie Johnson (Mary) of Sebring, FL, five grandchildren including Terae Singleton who was her primary caregiver and Damon Hunter with whom she was also very close, eleven great grandchildren, ten great great grandchildren, brothers Ken Singleton of Queens, NY, Harry Singleton of Washington, DC, step brother William Higgs of Jacksonville, NC, step sisters Ethelda Mayers, Margaret Buckner both of Erie, Philomena Jenkins of South Orange, NJ, Carmella McLauren Pope of Guys Mills, a host of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter Ida Manus, brothers William and Robert Singleton.

Family and friends are invited to call October 25, from 11-1 at St. John Missionary Full Gospel Baptist Church, 792 N. Main St. Meadville, where a Going Home Service will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Cameron T. Bowman and Floyd McClure officiating.

Gladys will be laid to rest in Greendale Cemetery.
