Gladys Burnette died peacefully on Saturday, June 4, 2022, of natural causes, surrounded by her loving daughters.

She was born in Utica, PA, on February 19, 1929, the daughter of the late Fred and Esther (Grute) Ebbert.

She graduated from Sandy Lake High School in 1946, and married Clair L. Burnette on August 11, 1950.

Surviving are her sister Leila White; daughters Connie Anderson (Alan), Patricia June Burnette, and Kathleen Glisson (Richard); six grandchildren Nathanael Anderson, (Shell), Nikki Anderson Mattson (Mark), Jennifer Doubet Burrows (Chad), Elizabeth Doubet, Hannah Glisson, and Leah Glisson; seven great grandchildren Alexis, Aeriabella, Aria Anderson, Quinn and Annilese Burrows, Anya and Evan Mattson.

In addition to her parents and her husband Clair of 71 years, Gladys was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Ebbert Arbuckle; brothers John, C. Richard, and George; and one special grandson K.C. Groves.

Gladys was a devoted wife and mother, and was known throughout the community for her countless hours of service. She worked for ten years as an EMT, and was an expert seamstress whose alterations and clothing designs, up to and including wedding dresses, were in great demand. She also devoted thousands of hours to support various community outreach programs including the community birthday calendar, peanut brittle making (with up to 350 pound of nuts a year), the Salvation Army, and Meals on Wheels. She was also a leader in the Cochranton United Methodist Church where she was a member for 66 years. She was a long time member of the choir, and served as a coordinator for numerous church outreach missions over the years. In short, Gladys impacted thousands of lives through her selfless devotion to practicing her faith through serving others. She lived her life by the Scripture verse that it is better to give than to receive, and in the process shared the love of Jesus with many through her kindness and love.

A Celebration of Gladys's life was held at her bedside prior to her entering her heavenly life.
