Gertrude Mary Krem

Gertrude Mary Krem, 98 of Meadville, formerly of Harmonsburg Road and Walnut St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2023 at The Caring Place, Franklin.

Gertrude was born in Meadville, on April 18, 1924, a daughter of the late Dominic and Maria (Grasso) Bengivenga.

On September 21, 1948 Gertrude married Nick Krem; he preceded her in death on September 22, 2006.

She was a life long member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

In 1942 Gertrude graduated from Meadville High School. She had worked in the office of the former Robbins Furniture Store before her marriage. She was a member of the Italian Civic Club Auxiliary. Her life was dedicated to raising and caring for her family. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, bowling and doing crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren

Gertrude is survived by three children Alan Krem (Shirley) of Meadville, Janice Krem (Donn Bury) of OR, Brian Krem (Lynn) of VA, five grandchildren Seth Krem (Amy), Nicole Hans (Jeff), Kendell Farner (Michael), Haley Krem, Alex Krem, seven great grandchildren Sydney Krem, Luke, Laney and Jake Hans, Nora, Nicholas and Nolan Farner, a sister Emelina Bahurinsky, of Meadville, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by eleven siblings Michael, Rose, Mary, Joseph, Clement, Anthony, Helen, Carmella, Ciro, John and Ann.

Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC. 404 CHESTNUT STREET, MEADVILLE where services will follow at 4 PM with Fr. Joe Petrone officiating.

Gertrude will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery.
