Geraldine "Gerry" L. Shank

Geraldine "Gerry" L. Shank (or Grandma), 93, of 26617 State Hwy. 27, Guys Mills, passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at home.

Gerry was born at home in Guys Mills, on July 6, 1924, a daughter of the late Leo J. and Emma (Sieple) Eddy.

On May 21, 1946 Gerry married Clyde Joseph Shank; he preceded her in death on May 15, 1984.

She was an active member of St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church as well as the Altar and Rosary Society.

After more than 30 years of service, Gerry retired from Allegheny College where she worked in the housekeeping department. During many of those years, she served as a union representative for the support staff. She was a 1944 graduate of the former Randolph East Mead High School. Gerry was a former member of East Mead Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She always looked forward to her next trip to Las Vegas. Her favorite things were cooking and baking, particularly for her grandchildren. She also loved camping with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed the family's annual 4th of July gatherings at Woodcock Camp. Family was everything to her. She will be sadly missed.

Gerry is survived by six children Judith Clark of Saegertown, Cynthia McGowan, Mary Carpenter and her husband David both of Guys Mills, Karen Thomas and her husband Duane of Meadville, Jack Shank and his wife Christa of Guys Mills, Charles Shank and his wife Gwen of Meadville, 19 grandchildren Charlene, Bill, John, Clyde, Jolene, Jamie, Holly, Brandy, Megan, Amy, Tonya, Ryan, Jessie, Keri Jo, Chuck, Josh, Devin, Jeremy, Dylan, 32 great grandchildren Adam, Melissa, Tyler, Shauna, Marissa, Jake, Jayden, Chase, Paige, Parker, Payton, Max, T.J., Lilly, Spencer, Josie, Logan, Keara, Cora, Callen, Zachary, Lucinda, Anna, Noah, Grace, Maddie, Carter, Bryce, Lucas, Natalie Jo, Mia, Ellie, one great great grandchild Vada, a brother Robert Eddy of Meadville, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Clyde, of nearly 38 years, Gerry was preceded in death by a daughter Bonita Kaputa, a sister Jacqueline Kohler, four brothers Vincent, Terrance, David "Keith", and William Eddy, two sons in law James Clark and Jerry McGowan.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 404 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE, where a Scripture Service will be held at 2:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Hippolyte Roman Catholic Church, 25997 Rt. 27, Guys Mills, at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, with Fr. Daniel Prez, Pastor, officiating.

Gerry will be laid to rest with her husband, Clyde, in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
