George F. Ferguson

George F. Ferguson, 89, of 24996 State St., Meadville, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

George was born in Meadville, on February 25, 1925, a son of the late Frank and Alice (Gilmore) Ferguson.

On March 23, 1946 George married Marian G. Acker; she preceded him in death on May 5, 2008. Had she survived they would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on the day before his death.

He was of the Methodist Faith.

George retired from the former Bumper to Bumper Auto Warehouse which was located on Route 98 in Meadville. He had previously been employed by the former Sunbeam of Meadville, the former Partridge Lumber Co., as a truck driver for both the former P.C. Yeager Co. and the former Spauldings, as a self employed truck driver hauling coal, and by the former American Viscose. He attended schools in Blooming Valley. George enjoyed working on cars, painting cars, gardening and coon hunting.

George is survived by two sons George L. Ferguson and his wife Lorraine of Guys Mills, John F. Ferguson and his wife Sara of Blooming Valley, a daughter Mary J. Coy and her husband Alan of Titusville, six grandchildren George L. Ferguson II and his wife Becky, Tonya S. Ferguson, Candi S. Esterly and her husband Eric, Frank J. Ferguson and his wife Sue, Michele L. Fisher and her husband Jason, Tiffany N. Jones and her husband Joe, nine great grandchildren, a sister Patricia Keas and her husband Robert of Meadville, a brother Otis Ferguson and his wife Shirley of Florida, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Marian, George was preceded in death by a brother Merle Ferguson.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 11-1 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Marshall Lillie, Chaplain for Hospice of Crawford County, officiating.

George will be laid to rest next to his wife in Acker-Roger Cemetery, Hayfield Twp.
