Elvin Walker

Elvin Walker, 90, of 20881 State Hwy. 198, Saegertown, formerly of 596 Remler Alley, Meadville, passed away Thursday, January 31st, 2013 at UPMC Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
Elvin was born in Memphis, TN on May 25, 1922, a son of the late Eddie Lee and Mary Jane (Pool) Walker.
He was an active member of United Faith Fellowship Church, Meadville, where he had served as Deacon, Trustee and was a member of the Prison Ministry.
For more than 40 years Elvin was employed as a concrete worker for Bruno Harris and for himself. A US Army Veteran, Elvin served his country during WW II from December 21, 1945 until his honorable discharge on March 9, 1947.
Elvin is survived by two children Rev. Berta Newsome Jones and her husband Rev. Dr. Cheviene Jones, Elvin Rose and his companion Linda both of Meadville, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Elvin was preceded in death by a granddaughter Jacqueline Newsome, three sisters and two brothers.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8 on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
A Homecoming Service with Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006 will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 AM at United Faith Fellowship Church, 561 State St., Meadville, with his daughter, Rev. Berta Newsome Jones, Pastor, officiating and his son-in-law Rev. Dr. Cheviene Jones delivering the Eulogy.
Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Twp.
