Edward L. Walk

Mr. Edward L. Walk, 87, of 1100 W. Long Ave., DuBois, formerly of 10206 Circle East, Meadville, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

Edward was born in Powelton on September 5, 1925, the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Ladenberger) Walk.

On September 10, 1949 Edward married Vinnie A. Aiola; she survives.

While living in Meadville, Edward was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church.

In April of 1985 Edward retired from the Spinning Dept. of the former Avtex Fibers, Inc., of Meadville. He entered the US Army on July 22, 1954 and served his country until his honorable discharge on July 11, 1956. A life member of the Meadville Eagles Club, Edwards hobbies included bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to his wife Vinnie of 63 years, Edward is survived by two sons Fr. Edward Walk of DuBois, Thomas Walk and his wife Connie of Meadville, two grandchildren Michelle Walk of Boston, MA, Thomas Joseph Walk of Pittsburgh, a sister Virginia Walk of Meadville, two brothers William Walk of Meadville, George Walk and his wife Sylvia of Erie, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by five sisters Janet Walk, Betty Bender, Mary Louis Best, Frances Wisgirda, Judy Kircher, two brothers Michael and John Walk.

At the familys request there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2013 at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with his son, Fr. Edward Walk, officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
