Edith Ann Hasness, 76, of 4927 Sandy Lake Rd. , Carlton, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at home.
Edith was born in Grampian on April 17, 1936, a daughter of the late Herbert and Sidonia (Zahner) Spencer, Sr.
She attended Clarks Mills United Methodist Church.
Edith retired from Area Agency on Aging, Armstrong County, where she was employed as a case supervisor. She had previously been employed by Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxililary as a cook in the snack shop and by Springfield Local School District in Ohio where she worked as a cook. A graduate of North Lima High School, Edith continued her education by attending Psychology classes at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Edith enjoyed spending time at both Playland and Lake Wilhelm Campgrounds where she had many close friends. Her greatest love in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edith is survived by three daughters Cynthia A. Bates and her husband Charles of Beaver, Brenda E. Johns and her husband Randy of Carlton, Diana L. Lamont and her husband John of Fenelton, five grandchildren Charles D. Bates, Nicole Stover, Christopher M. Bates, Randy 'Buddy' Johns, Jr., Ashley Parker, 11 great grandchildren, five sisters Ruth Harmon of El Centro, CA, Helen Snyder of Lima, OH, Donna Mercer of Salem, OH, Betty Kellner of Columbiana, OH, Laura Clark of Canfield, OH, two brothers Albert Spencer of Burgoon, OH, Arthur Spencer of Connecticut, a special companion Paul Rodgers of Slippery Rock, 30 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by a great grandson, Randy E. Johns, III, a brother Herbert Spencer, Jr. and a sister Margaret Lyons.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 from 1-4 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where funeral services will be held at 4 PM, with Pastor Dayton Mix, Pastor of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, officiating.
