Duane A. Young

Duane A. Young, 67, of 13313 Helen St., Meadville, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017, at home.

Duane was born in Meadville, on November 25, 1949, a son of the late Austin Lutton and Dorothy Marie (Broughton) Young.

On April 29, 1978 Duane married Geri Vaughn ; she survives.

After 25 years of service, Duane retired in 2012 from the Meadville Housing Authority of the City of Meadville. Additionally he was a member of S.B. Dick Hose Volunteer Fire Department and of the Meadville Auxiliary Police where he served as Captain. An outdoors man, Duane enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an all-around excellent marksman, be it with a crossbow, rifle, hand gun or bow and arrow. Duane loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren; his greatest joy in life was time spent with them. He will be sadly missed.

In addition to his wife, Geri, of 39 years, Duane is survived by a daughter Tiffany Young Smith, her husband Shawn Smith and their child Shea Smith of Franklinville, NY, a son Austin J. Young, his girlfriend Tina Cage and their children J.T. Young, Kayla Young and Jordyn Wofford, three sisters Leah Ann Putnam of Ohio, Donna Stone and her husband Carl, his twin Dana Michaels both of Meadville, a brother David Young and his wife Marjory of Conneautville, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by a brother Donald Davis.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 9-11 AM at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Rd., Meadville, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Cliff Forbes officiating.

Duane will be laid to rest in Huber Cemetery, Union Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
