Dorothy P. Krolikowski

Dorothy 'Dot' (Palicia) Krolikowski, 84, of 8394 Perry Hwy. Meadville, passed away peacefully at home following a short illness on Sunday, November 24, 2013.

Dorothy was born in Monessen, on October 23, 1929, a daughter of the late Anthony and Anna (Hrisak) Palicia.

On December 30, 1950 Dorothy married Michael 'Mike' Krolikowski; he preceded her in death on May 5, 2005.

She was an active member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society.

A dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother, Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker. While raising her family she worked as secretary/treasurer of her husbands business, Union Plating Works which her husband founded in 1950 out of their residence. As the company grew, it moved to Saegertown and later to Erie, Pa. The company did electro-plating in precious metals, including gold, silver, cadmium, nickel, chrome and copper for Sylvania, Westinghouse, GTE and TRW. In her earlier years she was employed by the former American Viscose, where she met her husband who was the love of her life. She learned the meaning of hard work and compassion at a very young age. Following the death of her mother, Dorothy was responsible for raising her brothers and sisters while she was only 16. She met the challenge with heartfelt dedication and continued to work hard throughout her life. A 1948 graduate of Sandy Lake High School, Dorothy regularly attended monthly luncheons and yearly reunions with her classmates. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, wintering in Florida and visiting her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies included landscaping and gardening on her 20 acre homestead, antiquing and having garage sales. She always followed sporting events, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and most of all, professional golf events. One of her favorite pastimes was solving word puzzles, especially cryptoquotes with her daughters. In her younger years she was a duck pin bowler and enjoyed golfing with her husband.

Dorothy is survived by three children Gloria K. Krolikowski of Pittsburgh, Wanda L. Krolikowski of Boca Raton, FL, Stephen T. Krolikowski and his wife Jami of Delray Beach, FL, five grandchildren Savanna Carrozzi of Pittsburgh, Kaleigh Krolikowski, John Krolikowski, Karly Krolikowski, Thomas Krolikowski, all of Delray Beach, FL, four step grandchildren Michael Krolikowski, Michelle Ayala, Andrea Strebe, Denise Davis, a sister Lucy Pistone of California, three brothers Pete Palicia and his wife Berta of Willowick, OH, Zachary Palicia and his wife Jeanette, David Palicia and his wife Teresa both of Stoneboro, a daughter-in-law Shannon Krolikowski of Delray Beach, FL, many nieces and nephews including her Godson, Major Eric Palicia.
