Dorcy Glen Bowersox, 82, of Guys Mills passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center after a recent illness.

He was born on Halloween night October 31, 1932 in Meadville. Dorcy or Doe, as he was also known, was son of Glenn Rayburn & Tillie (Boyce) Bowersox.

He grew up in Saegertown, living on his parent’s farm until he joined the United States Army. He learned many mechanical trades while serving overseas in the Korean War. He looked back fondly at his service and enjoyed seeing many parts of the world especially France.

As soon as he returned home, he married the one love of his life Ielene Marie Slingluff on February 26, 1955 in Guys Mills, Pa. They enjoyed 52 ½ wonderful years together with many sightseeing adventures. She proceeded him in death on December 17, 2007.

He and Ielene lived in Guys Mills for many years where he volunteered for Randolph Vol. Fire Department, and attended Guys Mills United Free Church. He was a member at the Eagles Club and VFW. Doe worked at Abex for many years until he retired in 1986. After retirement, he became a custodian for Penncrest school district for 10 more years before his final retirement. Afterwards, he concentrated on his craft of woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by a son Robert (Bob) Bowersox and his wife Carol of Guys Mills; A daughter-in-law Wanda Bowersox of Meadville; Grandchildren Michal Bowersox and his companion Jennifer DiBaco of Edinboro, Robert Bowersox and his fiancé Kathleen Correa of Titusville, Randi Peterson and her Husband Andrew of Clinton, SC and Chelsie Bowersox of Meadville. Great-Grandchildren Kolten Blanchard of Titusville, Michaela & Madalynn Bowersox of Guys Mills, Michal Jr, Isabel and Abigail Bowersox of Edinboro, Cody, Zachary and Shanelle Bowersox of St. Cloud, Florida, and Jakob Peterson of Clinton, SC. Brothers Harry Bowersox of Meadville and Larry Bowersox of Guys Mills, and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ielene; his youngest son Kenneth J. Bowersox; parents Glenn and Tillie; a sister Nona Diley, brothers Richard, William, and Thomas Bowersox; and a great-granddaughter Ashlee Marie Bowersox.

Family and friends are invited to call from 5-8 on Thursday, Januay 15, 2015, at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, at 1:30 PM with Pastor David Coddington of United Evangelical Free Church, Guys Mills, officiating. Full Military Honors by Erie/Crawford Honor Guard and Burial Detail will follow.

Dorcy will be laid to rest in Venango Cemetery with his wife, Ielene, and great-granddaughter.
