Donald Melville

Donald Melville, 93, of Auburn, AL, formerly of Saegertown, passed away Saturday, September 17th, 2011.
Mr. Melville was born in Monongahela City, on March 27, 1918.
On April 15, 1939, he married Katherine 'Kay' Bandley; she survives.
A long-time resident of Saegertown, Mr. Melville was employed as an electrician at the former Abex Corporation of Saegertown for 34 years. He was active in community government, the Elks Lodge, and the Saegertown United Methodist Church. With the help of his wife, Kay, he organized the first Little League Baseball team in Saegertown in 1954. He was a long-standing member at the Venango Valley Golf Course where he took pleasure in the competition and friendships. At age 91 he still managed occasional rounds of golf. He served in the US Merchant Marines during World War II, taking part in fourteen crossings of the North Atlantic. Since 2005 Donald and his wife have lived in Auburn, AL.
In addition to his wife, Kathryn, of 72 years, he is survived by two sons, Donald Scott Melville and his wife Julie of Spokane, WA, Joel Melville and his wife Judy of Auburn, AL, three grandchildren Kristin Hicks and her husband Danny of Loxwood, England Melville, Greg Melville and his wife Ellen both of Birmingham, AL, 6 great grandsons: Nathan, Caleb, and Wesley Hicks, Scott, Todd, and Harris Melville, a sister Grace Roberts of Tallmadge, OH, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 1, from 2-3 at Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, with Rev. Kenneth Custer, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Saegertown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald Melvilles name to the Saegertown United Methodist Church, 620 Euclid Avenue, or The Saegertown Heritage Society, 320 Broad Street, both of Saegertown, PA 16433.
