Denis "Ed" Edward Alexatos

Denis Edward Alexatos, 97, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022. at Meadville Medical Center.

Born in Greenville, on July 6, 1924,he was a son of the late Peter J. and Kalomera (Potomeanos) Alexatos, both of Kefalonia, Greece.

Denis married Rose Anne McCaffrey on October 1, 1950; she preceded him in death.

From humble beginnings, at age 16, Ed drove his mother daily to Pymatuning and popped popcorn to sell to feed the fish at the Spillway. He later opened a bar/restaurant with his father on Water St. in Meadville, called the Burgundy Bar. He sold the bar in 1953 and worked construction completing the Smock Bridge. Among other things, he was a pilot for 40 years, restauranteur, contractor, electrician, plumber, architect, entrepreneur, friend, and father. If you told him he couldn't, he did. "Greatness lies in never accepting position." He never did.
