David W. (Bill) Johnson

David W. (Bill) Johnson, 77, of Williamson Road, Meadville, passed away Friday, June 4, 2010, at Warren General Hospital, 2 W. Crescent Park, Warren County.
Bill was born in Meadville, on May 27, 1933, a son of the late Richard R. and Bernice D. (Elmen) Johnson.
On August 9, 1958 Bill married Louine M. Custard; she survives.
Bill was a member of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Bill retired from the Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec) after 30 years of service. Following his graduation from the former Randolph High School, Bill went on to serve his country during the Korean Conflict and had obtained the rank of Sgt. After three years of service, he was honorably discharged. For 18 years he enjoyed his winter home in Lakeland, FL, where he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2297. An outdoors man, Bill loved spending time at his camp in Warren County and golfing with his buddies Bob Brunot, Jim DeRoss and Tony Vuksan. An avid Pittsburgh sports fan, he also enjoyed shuffling where he had won a silver medal in the senior olympics.In addition to his wife Louine of nearly 52 years, Bill is survived by nine children Donna Needler and her husband Lee of Meadville, Darrell Battles and his wife Leigh of Meadville, Diana Walker and her husband William of Linesville, Deborah Dilley and her husband David of Meadville, Darla Martin and her husband Paul of Meadville, David Johnson and his companion Sue of Guys Mills, Dusty Johnson and his wife Cynthia of Cambridge Springs, Denise Heavner and her husband Arthur of Jefferson, OH, Darlene Bowes and her husband Roger of Guys Mills, 22 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two brothers Richard T. Johnson of Saegertown, Joseph L. Johnson and his wife Alice of Saegertown, an aunt Margaret E. Cupples of Meadville, two brother in laws James L. Custard, Clarence E. Custard both of Meadville, two very special friends Leigh and Janet Bowes of Cambridge Springs.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Lauren Bowes, father and mother in law George and Mildred Custard.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 4 - 7 p.m.. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, PA 16335 where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:45 p.m..
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 with Fr. Raymond Gramata, Pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment with full military honors will take place in St. Hippolyte Cemetery.
