David G. Vanriper

David G. VanRiper, Sr., 84, of 1198 S. Morgan St. Meadville, passed away Wednesday, June 20th, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center.
David was born in Meadville on June 11, 1928, a son of the late Maurice and Helen (Cole) VanRiper.
On September 3, 1946 David married Norma Frances Swavey; she preceded him in death on October 29, 2003.
He was an active member of Christ Church Episcopal where, over the years, he had been a member of the vestry and served as an usher as well as junior warden.
A journeyman tool maker, David had been employed by various tool shops in the Meadville area. He was a 1946 graduate of Meadville High School, a member of the Meadville Eagles Club and of the Italian Civic Club (ICC). His hobbies included hunting and playing cards, particularly with his card group. Above all else, David loved spending time with his family especially during family picnics.
David is survived by three daughters Diana Johnson and her husband Bill, Cheryl Muth and her husband Robert both of Meadville, Sandra DelaPaz of SanAntonio, TX, a son David G. VanRiper, Jr. of Meadville, ten grandchildren Crystal Ciallella, Kerry Ciallella, Casey Bavera, Nicholas Bavera, Jason Perrine, Jerrod Perrine, Justin Perrine, Julie DelaPaz, Sara DelaPaz, Abby Muth and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Norma of 55 years.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville and also on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 9-10 at Christ Church Episcopal, 870 Diamond Square, Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM with Rev. Rebecca Lash officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 870 Diamond Square or Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, both of Meadville, PA 16335.
