Colleen B. Shartle

Colleen B. Shartle, 88, of 20881 State Hwy 198 Saegertown, formerly of 14073 N. Wayland Rd., Meadville, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

Colleen was born at home in Meadville on October 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Harry and Mariam (Redmond) Rough.

On December 9, 1944 Colleen married Kenneth James Shartle; he preceded her in death on March 27, 1992.

Colleen was of the Methodist faith. She had attended Meadville schools and Wayland School. A homemaker, Colleen enjoyed raising her family, knitting, crocheting, playing the keyboard, playing the organ, swimming at the YMCA as well as YWCA and playing cards, especially Rummy. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Colleen is survived by six children Gary E. Shartle and his wife Connie of E. Aurora, NY, Larry J. Shartle and his wife Jacqueline of Evansville, IN, Kenneth M. Shartle of Cochranton, Diana Bowman and her husband James of Meadville, Linda K. Cornell and her husband Lynn of Linesville, Patricia Fier and her husband Ken of Virginia, many grandchildren, two sisters Cathleen Peterson of Meadville, Norma Peterson of Saegertown, several nieces and nephews.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth, of 47 years.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 1-3 PM at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM.

Colleen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kenneth, in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
