Clifford L. Edwards

Clifford L. Edwards, 71, of Meadville, PA Passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, January 10, 2019, after a long and arduous battle against cancer.

Son of his cherished mother Gertrude Edwards and Father Maxie Edwards, Clifford was born on September 24,1947 in Steubenville, OH. A graduate of Mingo Junction High School, Clifford fought to protect and serve our country in the Vietnam War before moving to Meadville, PA to pursue a long career with the United States Railroad, eventually pivoting to make a name for himself in union construction.

As an avid sports fan, Clifford fervently cheered on The Cleveland Browns and The Cleveland Indians as well as attending local football games with friends and family every fall.

He enjoyed walking his beloved Rottweiler Hebrew, conversing with friends and strangers alike at local grocery stores, discussing history and ancient civilizations, and reflecting on life while sitting at bicentennial park.

From stopping traffic on Liberty street in order to deliver his now wife, Lacetta, a bouquet of red roses to encouraging young men to reach their full potential by assisting many parents with enrolling their children in various athletic programs, Cliff's charming antics often brought joy to so many in the community.

Clifford is preceded in death by his parents Gertrude Edwards and Maxie Edwards, his former wife Emmaline Yvonne Edwards, his siblings Loviec Riley, Willie L. Edwards, Maxine Edwards, Christine Edwards, Ernestine Edwards, and Elaine Edwards, as well as countless friends, family, and loved ones, and is survived by many loving family members including his faithful and caring wife of 4 years, Lacetta Edwards who dutifully devoted her every waking moment to taking care of him when he fell ill.

He will be missed by his children, firstborn child, adoring daughter Troy Almetia Finley and her Husband Fire Chief Barry Finley, deeply devoted daughter Marlo Elaine Edwards playfully known to her father as Pick and her supportive partner William Ruth, Cliff's treasured only son La Monte Allen Edwards and his Wife Jennifer Edwards, youngest child, fiercely loyal daughter Emma Rae Thomas lovingly known to her father as Baba and her Husband Dr. Seth Maxwell Thomas, as well as his beloved step mom, Carmella Katherine Mclaurin, his sister-in-laws Mena Mclaurin, Charlotte Mclaurin, Roxanne Bell, and Roseanne Hardin, and his dearly cherished stepchildren Jacqueline Pauletta Edwards better known to her step father as Binky, Ragen Nicole Moody, Marie Shantale Jenkins, and Jamie Carmella Bolden better known to her step father as Jamie-Girl.
