Charles M. Norton, 64, of 24179 Dibble Hill Road, Saegertown, passed away Thursday, March 15th, 2012, at Cambridge Springs Rehab & Nursing Center.
Charles was born in Meadville on October 21, 1947, a son of Marjorie (VanMarter) Norton and the late George M. Norton.
He was a member of First Church of God, Cambridge Springs.
While living in Florida, Charles was employed as a heavy construction worker where he was involved in projects such as hospitals and restaurants. He had previously been employed as a conductor by the former Erie Lackawanna Railroad for ten years. A 1966 graduate of Saegertown High School, Charles received the Industrial Arts Award for his skill in wood working. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (RNA) and a former member of the Meadville Club. Charles loved hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.
Charles is survived by a son Jeffrey S. Norton and his wife Stacy Weir of Saegertown, a grandson Derrick Edwards of Oklahoma, a step granddaughter Isabelle Weir of Saegertown, his mother Marjorie Norton of Saegertown, a sister Marjorie Donnell and her husband Harry E. of Cambridge Springs, two brothers Daniel D. Norton and his wife Carol of Saegertown, Thomas G. Norton of Cambridge Springs, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father George M. Norton.
Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 1-3 and 6-8 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 18th, 2012 with Rev. James Callender, Pastor of First Church of God, Cambridge Springs, officiating.
Interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
