Charles 'Chuck' Gaglione, 86, of 737 Baldwin St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Chuck was born at home in Meadville, on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1927, a son of the late Salvatore and Carmella (Ullio) Gaglione.

On September 6, 1947 Chuck married Carmella Jane Fucci; she survives.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church.

Chuck was employed as an insurance agent for Western Southern Life Insurance Company for 16 years. He and his wife had owned and operated the former College LaRoma Pizza on North Main St. for 13 years and the former Janes Ceramic Center on Mulberry St. for 8 1/2 years. He had also worked for a health club promoter and for the former Meadville Italian Bakery. Chuck was a veteran of WW II having entered the Army on February 15, 1946 and served his country honorably until his discharge on July 26, 1947. He was a 1945 graduate of Meadville High School. A lifetime member of V.F.W. #2006, Chuck was also a member of the Italian Civic Club (I.C.C. Club) for over 60 years, where he served as the club secretary for 50 years. Chuck published a book on the I.C.C. Club history. For his years of service and dedication, the club banquet room was named in his honor. Chuck loved to read, especially books about American Indians, American History and the Civil War. A skilled golfer, he was a member of Whispering Pines Golf Course and over the years, achieved three holes in one. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Carmella Jane, of 66 years, Chuck is survived by three children Thomas J. Gaglione and his wife Debra of Harrisburg, Donna E. VanHeel of Minnetonka, MN, Charles 'Chuck' M. Gaglione and his wife Donna of Meadville, nine grandchildren Anthony 'Tony' Gaglione, Tamara Gaglione, Mallory Markham, Angela Selden, James J. VanHeel, Louisa VanHeel, Myrina L. Gaglione, Anita M. Bench, Charles M. Gaglione, Jr., seven great grandchildren, a sister Julia Battista of Meadville, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by three sisters Marie Morgan, Rose Kalustian, Anna Jean Myers and a brother, Alfonso Gaglione.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-6 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Scripture Service will be held at 5:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 12, 2014, with Fr. Marc Solomon, Pastor, officiating.

Following Full Military Honors by VFW Post #2006, Chuck will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
