Charles A. Cervone, 92, of 31 N. Park Ave. Meadville, formerly of 13261 Laurel Dr., Meadville, passed away Thursday, February 14th, at Meadville Medical Center.
Charles was born in Meadville, on August 31, 1920, a son of the late Nicholas Cervone and Amelia (Camerino) Cervone.
On September 25, 1947 he married Louise Quindardo; she survives.
He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
Charles owned and operated the former Cervone Pennzoil on Park Avenue from 1955 until his retirement in 1988. For 10 years, during that time, his business was the dealership for Hertz Rental. Following his graduation from Meadville High School, Charles served his Country during WW II, from September 17, 1942 until his honorable discharge on December 20, 1945. During this time he was involved with the Battle of Normandy. Prior to the war and immediately following for 10 years he was employed by the former American Viscose. He loved reading, especially Readers Digest and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
In addition to his wife Louise of 65 years, Charles is survived by a son Charles 'Charlie' Cervone and his wife Patricia of Meadville, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers Joseph Cervone, Girard Cervone, five sisters Sister Angela Cervone, Johanna 'Jenny' Baker, Antoinette Pascarella, 2 infants Mary Elizabeth Cervone and Alexandria Cervone.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 6-8 at the Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut Street, Meadville where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:45 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 18 at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water Street Meadville, with Fr. Marc Solomon, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with full military honors by VFW Post #2006 will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.
