Carmen R. Merritt

Carmen Ramon Merritt, 52, of 18225 Grange Center Rd,. Saegertown, passed away Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, as a result of a horse back riding accident on June 2, 2013.

Carmen was born in Meadville, on April 26, 1961, a son of Carmen E. and Vina E. (Lilley) Merritt

He attended Living Waters Church, Meadville, PA.

Over the years Carmen had been employed by Unique Ventures, Greenleaf Corp. and Rite-Aid. He was a 1979 graduate of Saegertown High School. Carmen was a skilled handyman knowledgeable in mechanics, carpentry and electrical work. An outdoors man, he loved riding four wheelers, fishing, horse back riding and sitting around the campfire. He also enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and his pet cat, Scooter. He was a member of American Legion Post #205.

In addition to his loving and longtime companion, Millie Mattocks, Carmen is survived by three children Stephen C. Merritt of San Diego, CA, Justin T. Merritt, Carmen M. Merritt both of Meadville, his parents, Carmen E. and Vina E. Merritt of Saegertown, his paternal grandmother Helen R. Merritt of Corry, two brothers Scott A. Merritt and his fiance Dawn of Conneaut Lake, David D. Merritt and his wife Melanie of Saegertown, nieces and nephews Andrew, Meredith, Ashley, Kyle, Bailey, Amber and her husband Patrick their son Connor and Kyle.

Carmen was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 11-2 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 330 Broad St., Saegertown, where Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ray Martinez of Living Waters Church, officiating.

Interment will take place in Saegertown Cemetery.
