Carmella (Sbrocco) Dilluvio

Carmella Sbrocco Dilluvio, a resident at St. Marys Home of Erie at Asbury Ridge, formerly of 669 Ellis Ave., Meadville, was peacefully lifted into her Lords arms to join Him and become one of His most faithful angels on Friday, January 17, 2014.

She was born on April 7, 1926 in Furci, Italy, a daughter of the late Francesco and Nicoletta (Dea Pardi) Sbrocco.

At the age of eight, Carmella and her family made their home in Meadville, where she resided most of her life. Carmella was a true disciple of God. She adored infant Jesus and had a profound love of the Blessed Mother. Her life was devoted to God and her faith was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. She was a very active member of St. Marys Of Grace Roman Catholic Church; she served for many years as a member of the Altar Rosary Society, sang in the church choir, was a member of the Care and Concern committee, an educator of her faith participating as a sponsor in the RCIA program, an Eucharist Minister which included visiting the sick and nursing homes. Carmella hosted numerous prayer groups in her home as well as enjoyed traveling to various shrines. A long time auxiliary member of the Italian Civic Club and the Elks Lodge, she served as Treasurer of the Davis Hose Fire Company. Carmella was a very dedicated employee for 21 years at Penndot in Meadville, a homemaker and care taker for her own caring mother, then completed her career in the Voter Registration Office at the Crawford County Courthouse until retirement. She was a true friend to everyone she met; had a passion about 'Living Life' to the fullest each day with a smile. She took such pride in her delicious home made cooking and baking. She was an unbelievably strong, determined, hard worker who always amazed everyone around her. Carmellas greatest treasure was her family who admired and loved her more than words can express. She was an enthusiastic, loving and active mother to her daughter, and grandmother to her three grandchildren while teaching them the virtues of life.

Carmella is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughter Gina Nicoletta Dickerson Lewkowicz and her husband Richard who was always there for her like her own son, her special grandchildren Dana Nicoletta and Gianna Carmella Dickerson, Marcus Joseph Lewkowicz, great grandchildren Daymar Tyaun Dickerson and DeCarter Dupree Williams as well as a step grandson Michael James Lewkowicz all of Erie, a brother who was her world, Frank Anthony Sbrocco, Sr. and his wife, a true sister Antoinette of Vero Beach, FL, her beautiful nieces Maria Dea (Chuck) of Texas, Nicole Ann (Brian), of Michigan, and a nephew she was so proud of Dr. Frank (Renee) of Maryland, several great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Best Friend and loving spouse Joseph Russell Dilluvio, her infant son Joseph Samuel and brother Nick Sbrocco.

Carmellas family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to the staff and administration of Saint Marys Home of Erie Asbury Ridge for all their dedication, love and outstanding care they provided.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-6 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., where a scripture service will be conducted at 4:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1985 Water St., Meadville, with Fr. Marc Solomon, Pastor, officiating.

Carmella will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Twp.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Marys of Grace Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, PA 16335.
