Ben A. Kiter

Ben A. Kiter, 48, of 5891 Kiter Rd., Cochranton, went to be with his eternal Father on Monday, November 24, 2014,surrounded byhis loving family, at Meadville Medical Center.

Ben was born in Meadville, on March 1, 1966, a son of the late Clarence G. and Eleanor (Hamilton) Kiter, Jr.

On August 22, 2009, Ben married Lorri Canter; she survives.

He was a member of Cochranton United Methodist Church.

Shortly following his 1984 graduation from Cochranton High School, Ben became employed by Channellock Corporation where he had worked for nearly 30 years. Over the years he worked in the forge shop as a set up man, as a grinder and most recently, in maintenance, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #408, Meadville, as well as Masonic York Rite, Erie. In his earlier years he was a member of the Order of DeMolay. Ben enjoyed working with his hands, especially crafting sgian-dubh knives which are worn as part of traditional Scottish Highland kilt. For the past four years he enjoyed playing the bag pipes and had become quite skilled at it. He also enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife, Lorri, Ben is survived by a daughter Melissa Urey and her husband William of Guys Mills, three step children Samantha DeLucia and her husband Ryan of Mill Village, Andrew Rice and his wife Elizabeth, Alexander Rice, both of Meadville, a grandson Cameron Urey, five step grandchildren Karter and Kaden DeLucia, Jonathan, Adam and Abigail Rice, a brother Glenn Kiter and his wife Joyce of Ocala, FL, two half sisters Betsy Kidwell of Meadville, Cathy Hare and her husband Jeff of Harrisburg and one niece.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by a sister Peggy Cherry.

Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, November 29, 2014, from 3-6 at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:00 PM immediately followed by a Memorial Service with Rev. Greg Spencer of United Methodist Church, Cochranton, officiating.
